How to preserve flowers

Nowadays, more and more people pay attention to the festive atmosphere. Many girls will receive flowers from their lovers during festivals or anniversaries. So how to keep the flowers blooming for a long time without decaying? In fact, we can make it into dried flowers, which will last longer.
There are many ways to make dried flowers. Due to limitations of space and equipment, the following three simple methods are often used to make dried flowers at home.

1. Natural drying method

This method is suitable for grass flowers with more fiber and lower water content. After harvesting the grass flowers, remove excess leaves and side branches, tie them with strings, and hang them upside down in a warm, ventilated and dry place to allow the water in the flowers to evaporate as quickly as possible to make elegant three-dimensional dried flowers.

2.Microwave drying method

This method is also suitable for grass flowers with more fiber, such as zinnias, coneflowers, roses, marigolds, etc. After collecting the flowers, place them in a microwave oven to dry. The drying time depends on the quantity and moisture content of the flowers.
If berry flowers are heated directly in the microwave, the fruits will break easily. They should be placed in a cool, ventilated and dry place to dry for about a week. After the water in the flowers has evaporated slightly, they can be dried in the microwave.

3.Plate drying method

This method is suitable for making flat dried flowers. After collecting fresh flowers, place the flowers in moisture-absorbent paper according to the needs of the shape (replaced with waste newspapers when making at home), place them on a flat plate, cover them with heavy objects, and move them to a ventilated and breathable place to allow them to dry naturally.
Generally, the absorbent paper should be replaced every 1 to 3 days. You can also use a heating device such as an electric iron to lightly iron the moisture-absorbent paper sandwiched with flowers a few times, and then press it in the usual way to allow the flowers to dry completely. However, some flowers, such as orchids, will change color when exposed to high temperatures, so ironing cannot be used.
If you have good-looking flowers at home, or if you are a florist who is usually busy at work, you might as well try homemade dried flowers. They can be preserved for a long time and are beautiful. You don’t waste flowers or energy. The National Day holiday is coming soon. Let’s try it during the holiday. Give it a try!
