Pay attention to the following points when planting potted roses:
① Time of potting. It is suitable for budding in early spring and falling leaves in early winter
② Watering and fertilizing. Watering depends on the situation. If the soil is moist, there is no need to water. Anyway, watering is necessary. Before planting, apply decomposed organic fertilizer as the basic fertilizer. Nitrogen fertilizer can be applied once or twice during the growth period, and phosphorus and potassium fertilizers can be applied before flowering. Apply leaf rot fertilizer after leaf fall.
③ Pruning. Pruning should be carried out during the dormant period to promote the growth and development of roses. Let the roses grow better.
④ Prevention of diseases and pests. Roses should be treated in time if they have diseases and pests. For details, see the fifth point above.
⑤ Selection of planting site. Choose a place with good ventilation and sufficient light. Be careful not to plant in low-lying areas, otherwise it is easy to accumulate water and cause the roses to rot.
⑥ Division. Usually division is done every two years, and 5 to 6 branches are enough for each plant.

The soil generally used is a mixture of vermiculite, peat, sphagnum moss, perlite, snake wood chips, etc.; or a mixture of garden soil and river sand in a ratio of 7:3; a mixture of dry river mud and honeycomb coal slag in a ratio of 6:4; a mixture of garden soil, honeycomb coal slag and river sand in a ratio of 7:2:1; at the same time, the potting soil needs to be mixed with enough decomposed organic fertilizer.
3. After completing the above two steps, you can start planting. It is generally recommended to grow roses in spring or autumn. During the planting process, you need to stretch the roots of the roses and compact them with soil; after planting, you need to water them once, and water them thoroughly for the first time;
4. Place the planted rose bonsai in a sunny, ventilated, and breathable place. At the same time, keep the pot soil moist at all times. Do not water the roses too much to avoid water accumulation and the death of the entire plant; in order for the roses to grow better, you need to do a good job of topdressing. The fertilizer generally chooses bean cake water or foliar spray fertilizer.
5. Perform corresponding pruning work on the roses. Pruning can make the roses more vigorous last week, and it can also improve the tree shape and make the rose bonsai more beautiful. Pruning work is generally carried out during the dormant period or the growing period.
（1）. If you perform pruning work during the dormant period. It is recommended to do it after the leaves fall in winter or before the buds sprout in early spring. When pruning, cut off some overcrowded branches, aging branches, and diseased and insect-infested branches. Generally, 4 to 5 branches need to be left for each plant. You need to prune them 40-50 cm from the ground. In addition, leave 1 to 2 side branches on each branch, and 2 buds on the side branches.
（2） If you prune during the growth period of roses, you need to do relevant work after the flowers bloom. Prune about 15 cm to 20 cm above the base of the flower branches. After pruning, it can promote the germination of new branches and make the flowers bloom better.
6. Protection against diseases and pests. Before the roses become ill, you can prevent and control diseases and pests by removing diseased buds and burying them deeply; if they have already become ill, you can spray pesticides for treatment. Generally, it is recommended to choose triadimefon, chlorothalonil, thiophanate-methyl, dichlorvos, dimethoate, etc.
In addition, roses need to be repotted once a year. When repotting, the roots need to be pruned, but it is important to leave more fibrous roots and apply base fertilizer to the potting soil to avoid affecting the growth of the bonsai after repotting.
