How to dry roses quickly
Roses, also known as “wandering flowers”, have a fragrant fragrance that lingers endlessly. Rose, together with rose and rose, is called the “three sisters of rose”. It is one of the three representative flowers of Rosa in Rosaceae, and has a long history of cultivation in China. According to literal records, roses are the earliest, followed by roses, and finally roses. In addition to its high ornamental value, freshly picked rose flowers can extract rose essential oil, and their petals can also be used for wine, tea making, cake filling, and other purposes.
Rose picking time
The flowering period of roses is concentrated in May and June, which is the peak season for picking roses. The best time to pick roses is from 5am to 9am. The best time to pick roses for consumption and essential oil extraction is within 1 to 2 days of flowering, when the content of essential oil in roses is relatively high.
Drying method for roses:
Freshly picked rose petals are not suitable for long-term storage, so many processing companies usually dry them. Common drying methods include natural drying, natural shade drying, and rose dryer drying. The first two drying methods may seem effortless and worry free, but they cannot effectively kill the insect eggs attached to the petals, especially during the rainy season when the petals will mold and rot, thereby affecting the quality and appearance of the materials. By using the Zhengxu Rose Drying Machine to dry the roses, not only can the effective ingredients inside be maximally protected, but the petals will not fall off throughout the process, and the overall appearance and texture of the flowers are also superior.
Rose drying process:
Pre drying treatment:
Before drying, roses can undergo color protection treatment or high-temperature sterilization to increase the stability of pigments.
Rose tray:
Layer the rose petals into a tray, with the petals arranged uniformly upwards or downwards without squeezing. The wet to dry ratio of roses is approximately 4:1.
Set drying parameters:
(1) Adjust the drying mode so that no moisture is discharged during this stage. Dry for 1 hour.
(2) Set the temperature to around 50 degrees, then start dehumidifying and reduce the humidity to 40%.
(3) Raise the temperature by 10 degrees and lower the target humidity to around 30%.
(4) The temperature remains unchanged, and the target humidity is lowered to 20%.
(5) The temperature can be appropriately lowered, and the target humidity can be lowered to 15%.
Harvest:
Arrange for manual inspection of the flower buds. If the flower buds are full and have a reddish or purple color, gently pinch them with your hands. If the flower buds are in a powdery shape, it indicates that they have dried thoroughly.
Grading and Storage:
After the dried flower buds are sorted according to the quality of the product, they are air dried to room temperature and then placed in non-toxic sealed plastic bags, waiting for the finished product to be packed.
Advantages of Rose Heat Pump Drying Machine:
1. Easy and flexible installation and disassembly, with a small footprint, allowing for the freedom to choose whether to install indoors or outdoors.
2. Energy saving and environmental protection, compared to coal, oil, and gas, can save about 75% of operating costs. No combustion or emissions are generated during operation.
3. The entire operating system is a semi enclosed drying system that is absolutely safe and reliable, without the potential hazards of flammability, explosion, and poisoning that may exist in traditional dryers (such as fuel, gas, or electric heating).
4. Adopting multi temperature zone layered temperature control, with adjustable speed and automatic control, it maximizes the preservation of the internal nutritional components of roses.
5. Customized for the high moisture content, susceptibility to damage, and color change of flowers, dried roses have a better appearance and a rich aroma.
6. Long service life and low maintenance costs.
To quickly dry fresh roses, you can try the following methods:
Air drying method:
Cut the roses short and hang them in a well ventilated place, such as a dry, cool, and ventilated room. Ensure there is sufficient space between the flowers for air circulation. This method may take several days or even weeks, depending on the humidity of the environment and the size of the flowers.
Silicone desiccant method:
Place some silicone desiccant in a dry container and then place the roses inside. Ensure that the flowers do not come into direct contact with the desiccant and that the desiccant can completely cover the flowers. Seal the container and place it in a cool, dry place. This method may take several days to several weeks, depending on the size of the flowers and environmental humidity.
Microwave drying method (only applicable to some flowers):
Place the rose on a tissue in the microwave and gradually heat it at low power for a few seconds to minutes to evaporate the water from the flower. Be very careful to avoid excessive heating that may cause the flowers to burn. This method requires special attention as different microwaves and flowers may require different time and power settings.
No matter which method you choose, it is important to ensure the preservation of natural petals. Dried roses may be more fragile than fresh flowers and require proper storage. Place the dried roses in a well ventilated area, away from sunlight and humidity, to prolong their good condition.
