How to make a bridal bouquet with roses
First of all, we can talk about the skills needed to make a bouquet of qualified bridal bouquet flowers from the perspective of making them! There are three main techniques for making brides holding flowers:

Natural stems – bundling natural flower stems
Natural stem – literally meaning, the hand holding the flower is the stem of the flower material in the bouquet, and you can clearly see the stem of each flower material. And when nurturing water, each of its flower legs can absorb water.
The natural stem bridal bouquet is a widely popular form among the public. On the one hand, it is relatively convenient to make and effectively controls costs. On the other hand, it is relatively easy to hydrate the bouquet later on to keep it fresh. After the wedding, untie the ribbon on the bouquet and insert it into a vase to keep it fresh for many days.
The bride’s bouquet with natural stems is made by keeping the natural stems of the flowers and tying them into a bouquet that is convenient for the bride to hold. The bride’s bouquet is made in the same way as a hand tied bouquet, except for its smaller size. The only difference is to ensure that each stem can drink water, and the length of the stems should be even and consistent. During the production process, the stems should not be too damaged.
Taking a semi-circular flower bouquet as an example, before making it, we need to make some choices. For flowers with firm stems that are not easily bent, we can place them in the middle. For flowers with stems that can naturally bend, we can place them on the periphery to make the bouquet full. Alternatively, we can use wire techniques to adjust the orientation of the flower heads on the periphery to create a perfect circular work. In addition, to prevent the grip from being too thick, we should try to choose materials with thinner stems to ensure that the bride feels comfortable. In arm horizontal and waterfall shaped works, the firm stems are difficult to shape, so it is advisable to choose plant materials that are easy to shape and have curvature when selecting materials.

Huaquan
Hua Quan, also known as Hua Tuo, is often referred to as the “microphone” by many floral designers.
Strictly speaking, Huaquan works are not bouquets, but flower arrangements. Since their inception, Huaquan works have become an important part of wedding floral arrangements due to their unique advantages.
Due to the water retention function of the flower spring itself, the freshness time of the bouquet is greatly extended. Compared to the technique of hand tying bouquets, the flower spring is simple and easy to operate, with low requirements for the length of the flower stem, greatly reducing the cost of making flower bouquets. These advantages have made flower spring works widely favored.
Huaquan’s works also have certain limitations and requirements; Firstly, due to the small size of the flower spring, it is important to avoid selecting materials with thick stems. In addition, when using flower springs to create works with long tails such as waterfall shaped or triangular center points, it is necessary to use wire techniques to fix heavier flower materials on the flower mud tray. Similarly, for flower mud tray works, throwing should be avoided as much as possible.
There is an important step in Hua Quan’s works, which is the ending. The plastic Hua Quan holder needs to be completely covered with ribbons, leaves, and other materials. Here are a few key points to note:
Any auxiliary means and methods can be used, such as pasting, wrapping, etc;
Any suitable materials such as ribbons, leaves, vines, decorative wire, etc. can be used. The materials displayed here should be considered comprehensively as part of the design, including texture, color, and expression, and integrated with the bouquet;
Ensure that the bride’s gloves and formal attire are not contaminated;
Ensure that the bottom of the bouquet is in contact with the hand and the grip feels comfortable.
Taking the following picture as an example, the bottom layer of the bouquet has a slight prickly feeling on the velvet cypress. An octagonal golden plate is used to separate the hand from the velvet cypress, and the corners of the octagonal golden plate protrude high to destroy the shape of the bouquet and trim it into circular corners. Acacia leaves are pasted layer by layer to cover the flower spring and stem. Then, a ribbon of the same color as the bouquet is wrapped around the handle and covers the pasted part of the Acacia leaves. The ending of the entire work is delicate, beautiful, clean and tidy.
Iron wire technique and bonding
The wire technique involves replacing all flower stems with wire, wrapping them with adhesive tape, and then adjusting the orientation and position of the flower heads as desired. Using this method to create flower bouquets will make them appear fluffy and light overall. Water droplet shaped and crescent shaped flower bouquets, which are difficult to create with natural stem materials, can be easily and perfectly solved using wire technique. In this technique, in addition to using wire to replace the natural stem of the main flower material, wire will also be used to replace the natural stem filled with green material. After constructing the basic shape with the main flower material and green material, the auxiliary flower material will be attached to the green material using adhesive techniques.
The grip of the wire technique work is made of wire that replaces natural stems. Here, the wire can be wrapped together in one direction or tied in parallel, as long as each flower is distributed according to the pre designed position and height.
From the above description, we can see that the biggest advantage of wire technique is to use the plasticity of wire to create various works that cannot be achieved by natural stems, while effectively reducing the weight of flower bouquets. Paste technique, as a supplement to wire technique, can quickly fix flower materials in flower bouquets and improve production efficiency. But the shortcomings of wire works are also very obvious. Firstly, it is almost impossible to hydrate the flowers in the later stage. Secondly, wire techniques require more time to complete, which greatly increases the cost of bouquets. Thirdly, wire works are not suitable for throwing.
Through the introduction of the above three basic techniques, we can conclude that the bride’s bouquet is often made using multiple techniques, and all designs and methods serve the final effect.
Storage and transportation of bridal bouquet
The bouquet of natural stems is relatively simple. Store the stems in a vase, and when customers come to pick them up, wrap the stems with ribbons.
Huaquan works can generally keep the petals moist for 1-2 days. When storing, just pay attention to reducing the evaporation of water on the petals. Iron wire technique works are slightly difficult to hydrate, and it is necessary to use moist cotton cloth or other materials to pre treat the roots with water retention. It is also necessary to cover it with plastic film, damp cotton paper or non-woven fabric to reduce water evaporation.
Here, we need to pay attention to some flower materials such as silver leaf chrysanthemums. When the leaves come into contact with water, it can affect their appearance, so it is important to avoid them when selecting materials; Some works may add decorative materials such as ribbons, which should not be wet. When spraying water, these accessories should be avoided or later added to the floral material.
If the bouquet does not have cold resistant floral materials such as red palms or tropical orchids, placing it in a refrigerated freezer is the most convenient and effective method.
During the process of delivering the bouquet and floral decorations to the customer’s designated location, it is the best transportation method if they are always held by someone, but this is not the most economical method. Usually, spherical and hemispherical bouquets can be arranged in a vase with a height and diameter that matches the bouquet, and the bouquet can be inserted. Of course, whether to put water in the vase depends on the actual situation, but the ribbon on the handle should not be wet, so fix the vase and prevent it from tipping over.
For other types of flower bouquets, it is generally necessary to find a larger box with bubble wrap or other cushioning materials inside. For flowers that are not afraid of cold, some ice packs can be placed inside the bubble wrap. Gently place the bouquet and decorations in the box to ensure that they will not shake left or right. Then, spray some water and cover the box with plastic film or damp cotton paper or non-woven fabric. Handle gently to ensure that the flowers are not damaged during transportation.

The use of bridal bouquet
The usage of symmetrical bridal bouquets is relatively easy to understand, but some asymmetrical bouquets are not something the bride knows how to use right after receiving them. According to customary practice or the most suitable combination, a symmetrical bride’s bouquet should be raised to the waist level and centered. Although the asymmetrical bouquet can be determined based on the bride’s hand usage habits, in general, due to the need to follow the male left and female right, with the female holding the male relative or groom’s right hand with her left hand, the bouquet is usually held by the bride’s right hand and placed on the right side near the hip. For a horizontal bouquet, simply lie horizontally in front of your waist.
Here is a special reminder that when designing the bride’s bouquet, the distance between the handle and the bride’s body must be considered, and the length must be designed so that the tail of the handle does not directly touch the bride’s body. When designing a waterfall shaped or triangular center point bouquet, it is necessary to design the angle between the tail and the handle, so that the tail of the bouquet is not too far away from the bride and does not press on the bride’s skirt. Based on experience, this angle is most suitable at 40-60 degrees, which can also ensure the comfort of the bride when holding the bouquet.
Additionally, it should be noted that flower spring insertion, wire technique, and arm horizontal flower holding are not suitable for throwing. If throwing is required, prepare a natural stem hemispherical or spherical bouquet separately.
There are many forms of hand-held flowers, and different types correspond to different scenarios. Below, we will use specific examples to explain the various prototypes of bride’s bouquet

Hemispherical type
The spherical shape has the meaning of perfection and endless vitality in the cultures of various countries, so the hemispherical bouquet that looks like a circle when viewed from above is widely respected and loved by most brides.
A hemispherical bouquet requires not only a round and full spherical shape when viewed from above, but also a perfect hemispherical shape when viewed from the side. Some hemispherical bouquets may extend downwards to form a spherical shape, but due to similar techniques, spherical bouquets will not be specifically described.
Dense, mixed type
(Suitable for various occasions)
Theme: Bridal bouquet
Flower material distribution: dense mixed type
Color scheme: Match with formal attire
Tip: Flower Mud Tray
Flower materials: roses, bellflower stems, daisies, Australian wax flowers, carnations, cypress, etc
From the above three examples, we can see that in mixed works, the combination of different textures and colors of floral materials can create a rich and vibrant feeling

Taking the above picture as an example, let’s introduce how to make a hemispherical bouquet using a flower spring.
(1) Use green objects to roughly cover the flower spring
(2) Select the flower material, determine the size of the bouquet, and cut the flower material according to the size requirements
(3) To create a hybrid work, first insert the center point of the overhead view (the highest point of the hemispherical shape in the side view), and the height of the flower holder has been determined (marked as A in the figure below);
(4) Looking down at the bouquet, insert four flower stems that match the center point of the bouquet, forming a square to determine the diameter of the bouquet. Mark the four positions of letter B in the figure;
(5) After outlining the height and diameter of the work with these five flowers, we then insert their curvature, which is point C. After inserting four points C, the overall outline of the work is completed. Next, we can lay another layer of green material to make the work full and cover the flower mud. Afterwards, we can insert other floral materials into this contour. When inserting, the mixed work must ensure that the floral materials are evenly distributed and inserted within the curvature range of the fixed point, without being raised or recessed. In fact, the surface of each display flower material in dense hemispherical works needs to be on an arc.
When inserting floral materials, we first insert larger ones according to their volume size, then fill the gaps with smaller ones, and finally form a dense mixed work. It is important to remember that any bridal bouquet made with floral springs must be completely covered with floral materials or green objects;
(6) Laying the foundation and beautifying the hands hold the finishing touch.
Dense, group style
Theme: Bridal bouquet
Flower distribution: Group style
Color scheme: Match with formal attire
Tip: Flower Mud Tray
Flower materials: roses, bellflower stems, longevity pine, flat cypress, etc
The intensive group style flower spring bouquet is produced in the same way as the mixed style, except that the flower materials appear in groups. Here, special attention should be paid to the excessive connection and proportion between colors and textures. The flower materials appearing in groups should also consider resonance, especially the balance of weight and color that does not occur in mixed style works. The same method as making group bouquets is to divide the flower materials into several groups, which is easier to operate.
Hemisphere type, including suspended object type
It is still an evolution of the Bidemaya style, with hanging plant materials that can be connected to the bride’s dress or wedding space.
Theme: Bridal bouquet
Distribution: Including suspended objects
Color scheme: Match with formal attire
Tip: Natural stem
Flower materials: Windbell Grass, Thousand Day White, Wavy Blood Nourishing Grass, White Agastache, Pseudo Asparagus Grass (Broad leaved Dancing Bamboo), Shousong, etc
Bidemaya – Classical Circular Style
The Bi De Mai Ya flower pattern, also known as the classical circular pattern, can be understood as a traditional flower pattern by its name. The bouquet looks like a full circle when viewed from above, with the central floral material unfolding in a circular pattern at the center point. Each ring represents the endless cycle of time and the never-ending perfection. The ancient Bidemaya bouquet was required to be semi-circular, but with the passage of time, this flower shape can be designed to resemble a cone like cone.
This floral pattern is more suitable for traditional retro weddings, but the bridal bouquet based on classical rings and made with modern aesthetics and preferences has gradually gained popularity among the public.
Suitable for a retro and traditional wedding atmosphere, the plant materials are displayed in a loop by loop form during production, and we can compare these levels by texture, size, and color.
Multi level open and natural (suitable for outdoor weddings)
Key point: Each type of floral material has space to showcase the beauty of different floral materials

Wand
Suitable for confident or tall brides.
In addition, there are also droplet shaped, waterfall shaped, crescent shaped, crescent shaped, arm shaped, wreath shaped, and so on
The selection of various types of bridal bouquet styles needs to be designed based on the scene, process, and the bride’s own situation in order to create the most suitable bouquet for each bride~
